having problems on my mk3 gti. for a while now the battery has been draining completely flat! I have to disconnect it by hand EVERY time i use it else it is completely flat by the morning. Is this a common problem and what could be the solution? Iv asked several people but without paying somebody to look at it im not quite sure??? any ideas???? :undecided:

For it to go flat must be a current drain or a faulty battery.
I had the same problems many years ago with my Audi and it was the boot light staying on.

its hard to put a finger on what it is. i bought a brand new battery but that didnt solve it. ive disconnected the alarm but that didnt solve it, and iv'e checked interior lights also? think i might have to bite the bullet and send her to an auto electrician :undecided:

I'd change the battery first off. Go to your local scrap yard and see if you can pick one up there cheaply.
If you still got problems after that go round and check that nothing is still on i.e lights or your head unit or something.
If this doesn't work maybe check your alternator?....

Try some basics first before you hand over money to an auto electrician.
The following link should give you a few pointers:
