Title: whirring
Post by: weazgti on 22 July 2009, 09:58
my mk 2 8v gti has a annoying whirring noise from the end of the cam.thought it was cambelt tensioner tried easing that off but no difference definatly higher up.sounds like its coming from the round fuel pressure regulator(think thats wot it is) or the end of the cam.
any ideas?

Does the noise change with you open the throttle?

My alternator sounds like this.

Squirt some wd40 around the suspect area and avoid the belts.

Could just take the aux belt off and run it for a few seconds to confirm.

As above remove the belt to confirm if it is the alternator.
