Title: Footwell Enclosures
Post by: doopydug on 29 August 2004, 21:05
When I had my last MK2, got a decent ice install done by a local lad who is no longer trading but, the point is, he mentioned that putting the speakers in the door caused the door to resonate and distort the quality of the sound. He fitted aftermarket enclosures that fitted in the footwell area - anyone ever heard of them or know where I can get em?

The sound was terrific but this was about 8 years ago so not sure if they are still available!

you shouldn't have a problem with sound from speakers in the doors, it probably abit of an issue with the standard speaker locations but in pods with adequate sound deadening there won't be any more distortion than a speaker installed else where. kick pods do offer better sound quality but only because the path length is longer and the speakers normal are aimed more towards the listeners ears. you could save yourself a chunk of money by building your own, check out www.caraudiodirect.co.uk and go to the FAQ in the forum, there's a great tutorial in there on how to do it  :)
