My ps pump has been lairy as hell for ages now... so I swapped it today for an Ibiza item, "fixed" I thought. For some reason it still whines like my ex (and ex pump). It was fine before my mate took it off his car, so I am wondering whether the tensioner/alternator would get noisier when the wheel is turned due to more strain etc?? Anyone had a similar problem? Diagnosing the source of the noise isnt as easy as I would imagine! Also wondering whether a dodgy rack would make this worse?? Ben

Alternator bearing maybe.

mate of mine had the same thing he had 3 different pumps on it and another rack and everytime he changed something it fixed it for a few hours then it would come back. in the end we found the middle of the pas bottle lid had dropped in the bottle and when u started the car the pump was sucking it over the end of the low pressure feed pipe at the front of the bottle crazy huh
