hi
Ive recently managed to clip one of my GTI alloys. the damage is small, about a 10p piece scuff but on a spoke. The car has the standard 17" alloys.
I spoke to my local dealer who recommended an alloy refurb specialist in Manchester however when I rang them they said it isnt possible to refurb these wheels as they are 'diamond cut'.
I had a look at the 'recommended links' on the site and their are a couple of wheel companies on but both are in Kent.
1) can the original 17" wheels be refurb?
2) can anyone recommend a company they have used, 'further north than kent! (ideally Cheshire/Manchester area)
thanks in advance
regards
Mark.

The 17's aren't diamond cut. Its the 18's that are diamond cut.
17's should be easy for any competent refurb place, the guy you were speaking must have been a bit confused

it was actually the VW Dealer who told me they were diamond cut! ill follow the links and see how far i get.
would still prefer a 'North West' company if anyone can recommend one?

vw dealer guy is an idiot, as above the 17"'s arent diamond cut

I had my 18's refurbed and they ARE diamond cut- so it is definately possible and the finished item is outstanding. 17's are definately not diamond cut so you should be able to find a local refurb centre fairly easy.
If you struggle I got mine done at Renowheel in Bridgend, South Wales; I'm not from there but it was worth the journey as they are absolutely 'as new' now and they were all pretty wrecked. Amazing.
Good luck, refurbed wheels make the car look incredible....but jees I'm nervous of curbs!!

Yes indeedy. Seriously outstanding job, might be worth keeping them in your memory bank; just in case of..you know..the dreaded curb...
