ive always loved the mk2 gti - oak green and royal blues :)
always admiring from a far, im now wanting to chop in my clio 182 for something with some character, so a golf it will be!
ive always had new cars so should i be worries about buying with milage well over the 100k mark? in some cases on pistonheads 160k! are they still reliable and still pulling strong??? im aware that spares are plentiful.
i have real strong ideas on exactly what i like. sitting low on bbs rims, and ive seen on some cars the wing skirts painted instead of the black plastic, that looks nice!
it'll get a fresh coat of paint in an attempt to turn it into a real show car no doubt.
i have a million questions so ill search the forum to answer those!
thanks guys,
dave

That's either a base spec non GTi or one that has had the plastic covers removed and the trim holes smoothed and painted.

ah right so its fairly simple then to achieve that look, i was thinking new wings! for some reason i prefer this look, and sat nice and low.

yeah it's pretty easy. Early spec cars (Pre 86ish) have less holes to fill, 86 onwards have loads in the doors for the side strips. The arches have holes for the covers underneath so these are easy to cover up. The key is finding a GTI with as little rot as possible as when you take the plastic covers off there is bound to be a little buddling lurking under there on anything but real minters.
