Title: Cleaning leather.. without leather cleaner!
Post by: jamie_pyrite on 20 July 2009, 00:59
Hi all, so my friend's mum has asked me to valet her car for her. She has black leather seats in it, but I don't own any leather cleaner as I've never owned leather or intend to in the near future.. So it'd be pointless buying any (plus I'm skint!)

Would something like a weak solution of MPC do for cleaning it? Any tips when it comes to leather?

Cheers!

That's not a bad suggestion, just make sure it's not too strong.

Personally, a damp cloth with a mild soap solution would be your best bet, then wipe dry with a dry cloth.

Yep any APC will be good, the only thing you have got too watch is make sure you don't mix it too strong, APC can sometimes dry the leather out. Mix it really weak and it will still do a great job cleaning.

jamie... you need to treat the leather else it will dry out, i suggest that you talk to the owner prior to the valet and suggest that they cover the cost of materials and at least get some proper leather cleaner and conditioner, such as gliptone

Anybody you know bought leather furniture recently?
If so they will most likely have been given some leather cleaner/conditioner!

Good point, my mum is a house cleaning obsessive so she'll probably have something!
