Title: golf mk 4 newbie need help

hello all, 1st of all id like to say wot a great helpfull forum this is,glad i found it :smiley:

i am in the process of buying this golf

i am veiwing it next week just wondering if theres any advice you guys can give me as ive never owned a vw (just french rubbish!).

am i right in saying there is a stronger engine than others in these as i plan on doing some minor tuning like remap,exhaust and intercooler, and how do i find wot it is.

if you're planning to upgrade the turbo, then that one (early AGU engine) is the one, but i thought you could pick them up cheaper than that. For that money you can get a later (AUM) one and you get more bang per buck from that if you're only going to go as far as exhaust/filter/remap.

im actualy swaping for the 02 plate clio 172 with 73k on the clock, which i recon is worth about 3 grand. not such a good deal then?

Agreed, only just looked at the ad, i got a W plate with the above mods already done in Dec for £3000, also has wheels, alpine head unit and an amp and sub.

Is the swap a straight swap?

it is a straight swap, is has the rs4 wheels and 12 months mot.

im thinking of backing out to be honest now. maybe worth selling mine and looking for a better deal.

Just had a quick look on auto trader and the clio sports are going for around £2500, so might not be too bad as astraight swap.
