right so i fitted a set of delta mics 20mm hubcentric spacers all round on my mk2 and the rears made that horrible knackered wheel bearings noise/rumble and the wheel would wobble side to side and up n down when spun. :angry:
fitted brand new bearings, and still did it. :angry:
took spacers off, no bearing noise, and no wheel wobble... :shocked:
i am now very puzzled as to whats causing it?
wheels are scirrocco Scala wheels (4 x 100, ET38 (so ET18 with spacers))
all four spacers are identical
fronts are no problem at all
bolts are shallow headed bolts supplied with the spacers (bought new)
spacer appears flush to drum when bolted up.
my initial thought was that the rear wheels didnt seem to sit flush on the hub part of the spacer, but bolted up fine and fronts have no dramas so not sure how front wheels would fit and rears not??
anyone with any ideas???

Long shot but maybe the bolts are too long and touching something inside the drum.

i thought about that, but they dont wobble unless the wheel is on? if i bolt up the spacer to the hub to the recommended 90nm torque and spin them they seem to run straight and true...
im almost convinced its down to the centre bores on the rocco wheels being tapered and hubs on spacers not inserting fully (if that makes sense), just not sure why fronts dont have any dramas, as you'd have to assume that 4 identical wheels and 4 identical spacers would mount exactly the same?!??

Another bit of a long shot here but have u tried taking the caps off of the wheel bearings? if the centre of the wheel is shallow like u say maybe just maybe it's not fully sitting right,taking the caps of isn't clever at all but just try it and see what happens?

not really sure what ya mean there mate... the metal cap in front of the bearings at end of stub axle?

Yes xactly I know it sounds abit of an off the wall sugestion but I've seen it before where the cap acctualy gets in the way and stops the wheel from sitting properly.this may not be the case but best to go down every route to solve the issue.

found the problem.
it was the centre bores of the rocco wheels, they taper down over about 5mm and then 5mm flat at 57.1. i needed the full 10mm to sit on the hub to settle it. set of spigot rings would sort it, but i decided to go get some ats cups instead, so now no need for spacers! although am toying with the idea of fitting them on the rears, would have ET20 fronts and ET 0 rears then :) lol

oh yes!
i already had to take a grinder to all 4 arches to get them to clear as they are!
was some serious scrubbage, but should be all good now. will know in a min when i drive her!
wont be doing it just yet, as i think id def need serious stretch to get it right, and am reluctant to get rid of the brand new yoko parada s2's. i may just sell the spacers tbf, looks mint as it is.

I had the same problem with my 20mm spacers.
It was the wheel bolts that were too long and this did not allow the alloy wheel to sit flush.
check the spacer bolts while your at it. They might have worked their way loose. Quite common with big spacers

yeah im in pompey mate, am gonna see how they look on the cups tomo, but should have one set for sale at least if thats any good? they literally did 5miles on the car and cost me £47.50 plus postage a pair, so feel free to pm me an offer based on that!
