Agreed. Some of those exotic blues are fantastic, and living in France I could easily have nipped over the border to order my LHD GTI in Germany, but there's no way I was going to shell out â‚¬2000 extra, especially as I would have lost nearly all of it when the time came to sell on.

Carbon grey is the best compromise for me :)

One white, two black and three grey. Nothing wrong with any of them, and obviously the white is popular, but to have three quarters of the entire range monochrome shades is very limiting.

Tornado red. Nice colour. Just not me, and also doesn't allow the red trim to show up.

And two very very dark metallic blues.

Why not a better range? A lighter blue instead of one of the dark ones? A gold or champagne would have been nice, but there isn't even one in the extended range.

In spite of one of the reviews going on about how much of the design is a woman's touch, I don't think they picked the colours imagining that they were going to attract many lady buyers.

Oh well, it's disappointing, but as they say, a good horse is never a bad colour.

I wish they actually did this many shades in the UK :( I'd LOVE to see a purple mk6 gti on the roads! :D

You're kidding, right? I mean, thank goodness we're not getting Agent Orange or Kermit Green, but something that wasn't either red or dead (boring) would have been nice. Six of the nine UK colours monochrome, and two of the remaining three very dark blues?

i mean the Focus RS stands out in a croud no matter what colour it is. i don't think a MK6 GTi does, so, maybe they gave a wide choice of colours for people who want a mk6 GTi and also want to stand out.

But they didn't. Only the first nine of these colours are available in Britain. That's six monochrome (white, three grey and two black), leaving only the very bright red and two very dark blues for people who want a car with a bit of colour.

I'd have loved one of the other 27 colours you can have in Germany, but no dice. Even if I could face the hassle of getting them to make a right-hand-drive car in one of these colours, I wouldn't be prepared to pay the sort of prices they're asking.

There's nothing wrong with the colours they're offering here, but no way is it a wide choice, and none of the colours is going to make the car stand out (red and white are common colours and not even metallic).

I've ordered Blue Graphite as being the only one with even a hint of subtlety, but it's a lot darker than I'd have preferred.

I had to go for number 9 as that is the colour I have chosen for mine, dark and understated with a nice glossy undertone. Yeah yeah I know i'm full of crap but there you go that's my opinion. :grin: :laugh:

So if you wanted a Mk6 GTI in, say, Ginster Yellow, you'd need to order through a German dealer?
I'm assuming you could order a UK spec car in every other respect, RHD, just spec a German option colour?

My German isn't great...but I don't see a 5 door option on the German configurator.

I would spend £1400 on something I was going to see and love every day, over some of the overpriced options anyday.

Anyone done it? Or know anyone that has?

Yes quite a few ordered deap blue pearl on the mk5 GTI though one of the import companys cannot remember there name at the moment think it was select?

The blues are particularly nice - shouldn't Rising Blue now be one of the colours? I also like the (British) Racing Green, although I'm not sure it works on a German car!!!!!! You can't really go wrong with white, black or grey can you?

Can you special order these colours from a UK dealer or do you have to go to Germany? If you can, what's the UK price. If you can't and you order in Germany, can you get a UK spec car?

I was told no when i asked 3 uk dealers.
Yes you can buy Uk spec cars from german dealers but at the current exchange rate it works out expensive. Back in 05 quite a few people did just that and got deep blue pearl mk5 GTis

I still wish they made the mk6 golf in the traditional Diamond silver metalic of the mk1 i love the mirror finish mine has unlike modern silvers.

liked the white alot but worried it might date and would also take any black...always a classic colour IMHO
