Hi All,
I am thinking of buying a used Golf GTi in the near future. I was going go for a 3 year old 3DR 2.0 GTi, I expect to pay about ?9k (any advice on this would be welcome).
However, I heard that VW are bringing out new Golf in September and I was considering waiting and seeing the affect on prices. I heard this from a very unreliable source (ie. a woman) so does anyone know anything about this??

I heard that a 180 BHP TDI is on its way.........not confident about the reliability of that source either. :-\

I had heard as well the new golf was out in the autumn this year, but having a quick scan on the net I have seen it stated that it is out in October, but then also not until next year...not much help sorry!! On the prospect of prices, new mks usually cause proces to drop on the older mks, as they reduce the prices and load them with goodies to sell them. Might be worth waiting to see what happens. Having only driven a 1.6s mk4 I couldnt tell you about the GTI. Nice looking motor and with similar unit to the mk3 I think it should be okay.....just depends how much poke you want. Looking for a bit more now from my mk3 GTI, but I am sure the on-going debate about the early golfs vs the later golfs will raise its ugly head soon enough!! ;D

Since posting this I have seen that the MK5 is to be launched in Frankfurt this September with UK sales starting in early 2004.
I also heard that they are bringing out a 247bhp, V6 R32. I think I will start saving now! Any contributions are welcome.

Thats a bit of a sexist remark about us women being a unreliable source some of us do know a few things you know ;) ;D

veedub garage near me said it will be April till the MK5 golf is out ::) ::)
