New car anyone?
-
The GTI-R, assuming it gets 4WD and some nice extras
-
I'll be keeping hold of the gti for a good while yet but plan to get something new this time next year as the main car.
Current favourites are somewhat varied in price, Audi RS4, E92 M3 or a Mk5 R32! (guess the first two make me out to be a bit of a cock!!)
Could all change though depending on the R20 and what that turns out like!!
-
Haven't made up my mind. Either:
E46 BMW M3 CSL (only available in SMG)
E46 BMW M3 CS (manual)
E46 BMW M3 Coupé (manual)
E92 BMW M3 Coupé (manual)
E86 BMW Z4M Coupé (manual)
-
mk6 Gti.. already on order
-
Only had the mk5 6 weeks so not changing yet.
-
Mine is staying put
-
Bmw 135i! or atom?! (: D)Hopefuly sooner rather Than later! Lol
-
Would love a mk5 R32 or a new Rocco, but the 1.4 mk5 will be staying put for a few years yet

My mates just picked up a Lambo Gallardo 57 plate convertible in white
Hes only 22.
He's also bought a new X5 for his dad, New C220 Merc for his younger brother. Bought his sister an A3 and hes also bought a Chrysler (Bentley wannabe) as a run around.
His dads a millionaire.

335d coupe for me

335d coupe for me
Fantastic engine, however personally I would have 330D M Sport Tourer it's now nearly as quick as the twin turbo and more economical. After all that is why you buy a diesel.
-
Nissan R35 GTR in 2012/13.
-
Will be looking at an Evo X fq330 with SST, Golf R20 and maybe the Audi TTS, I want something with 4 wheel drive and semi-auto gearbox.
-
I'd love a RS4 - but am not looking to sell for several years yet.
-
996 911 c4 or TT (if funds allow)
-

I agree - the NEW 330D is, I think, a better engine to buy.... but bit too pricey on the second hand market at the moment

that's like Beckham's 5-year old son bought fully packed BMW M5 for his mother.
-
my sights are set on Porsche, even if it takes me 10 years to get it. I'll drive my Oettinger Edition30 meanwhile.

If I had a Porsche I would get one of those stickers that say "My Other Car Is a Porsche", because it's only time it's funny.

Well, my mate looks after his dads business who's now less involved in the business and lets his 2 sons take care of the day to day running.
My mates the one that now handles the money interms of purchases and stuff, although he still has to get the ok from his old man

No they changed the 330d in Sept 08 - its completely new. More power, cheaper tax band, better economy.
335d is still the same...

Ahh yes.. i was overlooking the new 3.0 engine. I was quite sure the old 330 and 335 shared the same engine but the later had a different map and few extra bits n bobs (you can see my technical side shining through there ).

No you were right about the old one, it is shared with the 335d (which has two turbos on it), but also that the 330d did go through a remap change around 06/07 I think? But the 08 is a completely new engine :D
All of them cracking though to be fair!
(for a DERV) :D
-
As it happens I have a feeling that there is a might be a further evolution of the 335D which is more powerful still, it is still a 3 litre but is only for the 7 series as a 740D.

The only thing that puts me off a BMW is that a head mechanic told me off the record that he wouldn't advise running any of their diesel engined cars out of warranty.
-
Thats the twin turbo version of the all-alloy new 330d we're talking about it seems. Perhaps we'll see that in the new 3 series?
Bit surprising that - I would trust BMW 6-cyl petrol engines with my life. Any specifics on what goes wrong on the diesels?

The infamous plastic swirl flaps being sucked through the inlet manifold into the engine, it affected the 3 litre as well as 2 litre engines, they probably have sorted it out now to be fair. I think that is what happened to the 330d that top gear raced in a 24 hour race a couple of years back.

Oh right! Blimey.... dont know anyone who's had them long term - thats a little worrying
-
RS4 avant
Range Rover Sport (V8)
or
BMW 335i (with remap)
If i am on a budget ill get an S3 so we will see how things go. No thoughts of changing for a few years (although the Focus RS i was in yesterday sounded nice.......... )
-
ive swapped between audi and vw since time began s3 and gti on a cycle seems to be keeping me entertained . i wont spend out on brand new though dont have the cash . thinkin new s3 within the next year or so
-
mk2 ford focus rs in white
-
sat in a new focus rs at the kent garden show, i want one. although i had a driving course around brands in an M3 with dct ( same as dsg) what a car, its worth 50 grand for the sound alone, £ 180 well spent, if you get the chance have a go.
-
Aston Martin V8 Vantage, hope to get a second hand one in 3 or 4 years time when prices drop to around 30k. Currently for early ones they are around 40k. I know they are not the quickest car on the planet but I just love the look of them. Stunning. Keeping my MK5 R32 forever though!
-
Keeping the GTi another 2 & 1/2 years, then the negotiations begin with the missus about a more 'practical' car for kids...
I was thinking the base EVO X or a 330d Coupe in blue, but I'd happily run a S4 Avant...
Let's face it, it'll end up being derv and a VRs estate, or something similar
-
If I ever need/get forced in to having something bigger and more practical than the GTI (which the better half keeps calling practical anyway ) then I would look no further than an A4 Avant, probably the 3.0 diesel with the quattro.
Only Audi know how to make an estate look good.

I'd say Alfa Romeo also knows how to make estate look good. Check 159. Though, of course, calling those cars "estate" is overkill.
-
there are only 3 estates you can 'av....
M5
RS6
E63
take your pick
-
Fair point mate. Actually watched the top gear on dave today when they tested the M5 and E63, currently off work with a spot of swine flu!!
-
I think the Golf is going to be my swansong to hot hatches. At the top of my list to replace the golf, are 2 BMW's- cos i believe no one does it better than them; they are the current M5 or 335d/i saloon. The E55 AMG is also a strong contender.
-
Decided to swap my MK5 for a newer one with lower mileage (current one has close on 88000) and DSG, get it friday at 16:00 :smug:

yep, that is my last Golf, as well. At least that is the plan. Unless there is some angry looking 4x4 that I can take to 400hp.
What do you need M5 for? :lipsrsealed: It's huge gas gazzler.

Really not loving the Focus RS too much despite loving the cossie when I was a kid.
Don't doubt it's a great car but I just wouldn't.

Must be getting old... I really fancy a Jaguar XF
-
Did you see the XF-R on topgear the other night?
Looked brilliant and Clarkson seemed to really enjoy it.

Fair enough mate!
They are very european, and that first one is immaculate. Just don't float my boat.
