my cars started vibrating at 80mph+ the steering wheel for example , i recently fitted some mk4 montreal alloys & had them balanced , so i`m unsure of what it could be... any ideas? is this common? cheers...

Something must be out of balance or loose.

buckled wheel
improper balancing

buckled wheel
improper balancing
is there a way you can tell if a wheels buckled?
-
mine is the same.
on standard gti 8v wheels, its annoying. I'm hoping the wheels just want balancing.
-
tracking?
-
You say the wheels have been balanced so they cant be buckled or it would have showed up. But do go and check that the wheel nuts are tight.
-
if the tracking is out, doesnt the tyres wear more on one side?
mine are pretty even, exept when flinging it round bends
-
Yes it can do but doesnt usually cause a vibration
-
so its more likely to be wheel balancing then, buckled wheel, dodgy suspension, or loose wheels, and maybe tyre pressure?...
i'll check on these tomorrow if it stops bluddy raining.
thanks guys.

just had new shocks and springs , performance bump stops & front and rear top mounts fitted , they`ve all been balanced & are all def tight & tyre pressures are fine.... f**k knows then?!
-
steering rack might be on it way..... ??? dunno, i have same kinda problem, but am quite lazy and cant be arsed to sort it yet lol, working loads lately. just want to chill when i get in.
-
Are they quality or cheap tyres.
-
mines probably cheap tyres, had full set when i got car last year.... so yeah there cheap.
-
decent dunlop tyres 2 new & 2 with loads of tread left.....
