i have a 89 8v gti with a pb engine and am after some plugs had a look on ecp and they list 2 types that are beru they are 14-7dtu and w7dtc but the w7dtc are the same number as the bosch ones and on gsf they dont seem to list any for the gti except the 16v but the w7dtc they list is for 1.8 carb models?
i have done a quick search but not much joy and remember someone posting something a bit ago about using the early gti plugs in the later cars so can someone tell me what plugs i need
cheers

I use the k-jet ones listed on AVS, simply as they're tripple probes rather than single probes that AVS list. work fine!
only reason i go for tripples over singles is the singles can get bashed out of spec in the post, tripples wont
edit: they'll last longer too, but i never leave them in long enough to wear out anyway

i have done the opposite and they are about shot now :embarassed: very lazy this year
do you know the plug number by any chance

beru number would be Z12 for the tripples and Z61 for the singles. As you say gsf only list bosch W7DTC for the 1.8 carby, AVS recon the k-jet and carb have the same plugs:

i tend to put singel point platinum plugs in everything.

yeah as long as the gapping is right they'll work, I bought some singles the last time I serviced the gti and it ran exactly the same. another reson i go for tripples is I cant be bothered checking the gaps

cheers guys
i think i will be using the kjet ones as i too am far to lazy to check plug gaps
