Every pic I've seen of the golf gti's steering wheel has got the telephone buttons on the left hand side.
Seeing as I haven't opted for the bluetooth prep, what will be on the steering wheel instead? Will they just be duff buttons? Or worse still will they be blanked off? Best option is that they are replaced by some buttons that work!
Can anyone help pls?

The phone button is still there mate, it just doesn't do anything.
-
Also will I still get a shark fin aerial on the roof? I don't want a regular one.

No mate, no sharkfin, no visible aerial anywhere. Could be built into the rear window like some others.

I thought the shark fin came with the satnav option.

possibly but there's nothing on my car.

I haven't got mine yet, so I can't comment, but I've seen quite a few pix of the sharkfin.

I think the shark fin is standard. The demo car I took out had a shark fin but no sat nav

Just had a quick look through my nerdy collection of GTI pix that I've collected and it seems to be about 50-50 for the sharkfin. I can't really tell whether it equates to the satnav option or not. Odd.

From what I've seen the shark fin is used with factory phone prep and/or sat options. Standard and RCD510 radios use an aerial in the rear window - unless they've changed things.

Interesting. With the mk5 the very early ones had the aerial built into the rear window but for cost cutting reasons VW changed it to the bee sting aerial on the roof pretty quickly...
Wonder if the pattern will repeat itself with the early models getting a lot of motoring press friendly little touches then once the launch year is over cheapen it up a little?

yea...my 05 GTI has a nice brushed aluminium ashtray cover and 10 speakers as standard....I noticed later cars having a black plastic cover and down to 8 speakers......those pesky bean counters!

What's a bee sting aerial?!

What's a bee sting aerial?!
One thats about a foot (or maybe less) long, with a thicker bit on the end.
Pretty much standard on most cars now...

So does the dab tuner need a fancy aerial ?
