Title: Fitting 16 inch wheels with 205/55 tyres
Post by: MARLBORO_LITE on 15 July 2009, 05:29
I got the chance of a set of Montreal IIs fitted with 205/55-16 tyres.  I am conscious that the rolling profile will be increased altered [currently car sits on 205/50-15's], will I be making a mistake?  Any effect on handling?  I am wondering whether I should stick to 50's on a 16 inch rim or infact 45's?

Appreciate any advice as I am in a dilemma :undecided:

Way too big, 205/45/16 or 215/40/16 is the correct size.

How wide are these wheels?

Would be inclined to go 195/40/16 or 205/40/16

Thanks for these comments fellas.  I was pretty sure my plan was flawed, you have confirmed this...back to the drawing board!!  The hunt continues....

You could still use them but just change the tyres.

Aye, can do that, but then I ain't offsetting the costs.  At the moment I need 4 tyres for my original 15" 16v rims, rather that spend circa £200 on new tyres, I thought I'd see what I could get, preferably 17" with good tyres, for around the same mark.
