ok folks i need a few pointers for a little problem. when im driving along and i hit a little uneven road my steering tends to ver off a little bit also feels a little bit skittish what could be the problem ? could it be down to worn out bushes and pas ? shocks and springs are new ish only a few months old.

oh yeah and another thing when the engine is under load it tends to rattle a little bit could this be the tappets ? if so best cure ?

Have you lowered the car much? When people alter the car's normal ride height it can make the car bump steer whcih is probably what your experiencing when you hit bumps.  :smiley:

yeah its been lowered a little not by much id say a 40 drop so what can i do to cure it ?

you could always stop whingeing like a little girl, man up and learn how to control your car!!!  :laugh:

mines lowered 70mm, bump steers like a b!tch and tracks on highly cambered roads.(perfectly straight on a flat though) i friggin love it, makes driving hard so much more fun!

I get this too, quite a lot actually  :laugh:

Does make for interesting driving round here where ALL the roads are bumpy, lumpy, uneven and awesomely sh!t in a normal car...  :evil:

just check all suspention components with a good shake check for play and replace anything thats knackerd if all looks ok then............... learn how to ignore :grin: :grin:

Knackerd steering rack will make it do that, probably combined with worn ARB bushes/eyelets and wishbone bushes if they are all coming up to 20 years old.....

I replaced all of the above on my mk1 and it was sweet afterwards, mk2 steering rack is a bit less likely to wear so it may just be the bushes????

mine was a bit similar to this when i first bought it. jack it up and see where the play is coming from by the shake check as said. mine was the balljoint bolts not being tightened, also my arb bushes were fooked.

ok cool thanks for the input looks like dole money going to be gone next week  :laugh: or maybe ill just put up with it for now
