Been lurking for a while while I made up my mind and read other people's posts.
This will be my 5th GTi having previously owned 3 x Mark 2 16v which were brilliant and 1 x Mk 4 which was not so brilliant.
I left the GTi fold when the Mark 4 was stolen from my house and bought a MarkV GT TDI 4 motion which has been excellent but not much fun.
Anyway the MK6 arrives at the end of October which is quite a long wait.
5 Door
Sunroof
Monza alloys
Deep Black pearl
Cruise Control
Lux and Storage Pack
Bluetooth Phone prep
Rear side Airbags
I have 2 kids now hence the storage pack and rear side airbags which are both on my MkV as well.
Could not stretch to the leather, xenons, nav, sound upgrade etc but am very happy with this spec and am looking forward to being in a GTi again.
It seems a GTi of some incarnation has been with me for most of my life.

enjoy! once a GTI owner always a GTI owner!!

Great sounding car, have fun when you get it. October tho now that really is a long wait!!!! : :

First person I've seen getting one with a sunroof, I might do the same.
-
Congrats, you got all the important options (almost the same config as mine). Leather, xenons, etc. are absurdly expensive.

Hey, I'm getting a sunroof!
5-door, pearlescent paint, DSG, ACC, sunroof, winter pack, luxury pack and flat tyre indicator.
£22,500 OTR with scrappage deal.

Yeah, me too. After owning an Eos for a year, it was the first option on my list ;)

I wonder if mine's on that boat. I ordered on May 1st - probably before you did - so I should get mine first!!!!!
-
Technically you should get yours first but it doesn't seem to be working like that for some reason!! not that I am complaining.
-
Geez most of you are getting sunroofs then, I'm gonna have to read peoples spec a bit better when they post.
-
i`m not

I remember when I bought the Peugeot, a lot of people tried to talk me out of the sunroof, because of the aircon. What on earth do you want that for? Well, if it's a nice day and not too hot, it's nice to get some fresh air. But even if it's not a nice day, it seems nicer with the extra light coming in from the roof. It doesn't even have to be daytime - many I time I've been on a long motorway drive on a clear night with a full moon, and enjoyed the moonlight.
Then again, the aircon hasn't worked for nearly three years. The dismal Scottish summers of 2007 and 2008 helped of course, but there have been sunny days and the sunroof has been worth its weight in £10 notes. If I hadn't had it, I'd probably have paid £600 to have the aircon fixed - in a car that's headed for the scrappage scheme.
Of course there's a down side. These days, if I leave the car outside in heavy rain for a while, I'm liable to find drops of water coming in round the light fitting and other places. I think it's coming from leaky seals on the sunroof. (Mind you, that hasn't happened since I cleared enough space in the garage to get the car in at night.) Still, it's not a huge problem, it's not soaking me, and the car is over 11 years old.
So yes, I'm up for another one.

Deep Black Pearl is a fantastic colour when clean.
The wait will make you enjoy the car even more.....
When you find out your build week you can imagine the guy with the funny haircut and the blonde girl on the VW production line making sure that everything is German perfect with your car.
Or is that just me..
Wolfsburg also do visits if you need to see the birth.

Agreed, black is superb when clean, as you say. Unfortunately, it usually only stays clean for about 200 yds, 50 in winter  I recall a couple of years back there were rumours VW were going to put some kind of webcam system in their factory, so that customers could see their cars being built. Does anyone know what became of the idea? It would be great if they did it!!
