where are you getting them from??? if its ebay then they should have more info, not just vr6 ones...but i believe they are all the same, and im pretty sure that its the top ones as youe 1.6 is not the 4x4 varient of the golf, 4x4 golf has different rear mountings iirc

Hottuning ones are all the same. But better branded ones do sell different for the bigger engines and front axel weight.

Which probably explains one of the reasons why they are the sh!test cheapest coilovers on the market

Correct, I know a lot of VR6 owners saying they are underdamped and bottom out really quickly

Maybe, I would never use them again, yes they are cheap but I would save next time and get something better.

They are good for the job, just dont expect them to last more than about 15k without falling apart.

I've had mine on since Jan' and they are doing damn fine I reckon. Sure they can be a bit bouncy but I'm more than happy with them. I think I've covered well over 2500K miles in them now, maybe more.

I've had mine on for 4000 miles. Most of them done on the track, still holding up fine. Suit track driving well.

But they are harsh on the road and I don't think I would want that harsh a ride on a daily driver. Any shocks lowered too much will give a harsher ride.

You get what you pay for.

Reckon they'd be perfect for a track setup as the car did feel like a go kart around the bends ( I still have them just in case). Knew there was mixed reviews about them even when I purchased, talks of harsh ride etc. The golf is my daily driver, took a chance, lasted about 5 months on them. Car was in the air more than on the ground on the bumpy back roads, just too bumpy in the end and ended up having to replace a lot of parts when I went back to std. The g/fs car 1.6 focus was always taken over the golf for any spin with mates as the golf was too harsh. Nobody wanted to get into it. I couldnt have that, i could bare it but nobody else would. Having said that the golf looked so much better lowered than it is now, Just a pity it didnt ride as well as it looked.

Mike
The hottuning coilovers come with a 2 year warranty. Have you had these for more than 2 years?
If not see if you can get them replaced under their warranty, even if you don't want to put them back on you can sell them on.
