Got a little dilema...looking for some advice/help.
Have the choice of two different GTi's...both the same month/year of manufacture...same mileage...same price...same colour...
Option A...Edition 30...or
Option B...standard GTi...with leather Recaros and Xenons
Thanks

If I were to choose i would take into account if I wanted to mod in the future. If I wanted to mod then I'd choose the Ed30. However if I wanted to keep it standard then the GTI with all the toys.
HTH.

ED30
Ed30 comes with half leather anyway, full leather not being an option, so in reality your only losing out on xenons. I've got xenons and there superb and worth the money, but long term the ed30 will hold it's value better than a set of xenon headlights. Plus you've got a better base engine and all the extras (body styling, wheels etc) that are worth a fair bit if you were to add onto the GTi. (if you don't like them sell them to me )

Personal preference on this one I think mate. I personally prefer the understated look of the standard gti and combined with the xenons and the recaros I reckon that would be a great car and you won't see many with those two options so you'll probably have a rarer car than the edition 30!
Performance wise, agree entirely the edition 30 is ripe for big power if that's what you want.

Thanks for the replies guys...forgot to say that the standard GTi has spotless diamond cut 18" Monza II's as well...more tempted by this option, as not too fussed by the extra 30 bhp or modifying.

I got xenons and leather, not overly rare!
Sound's like you've already made your mind up to be honest. Also if the spec's are that similar I would say the standard GTI is over priced.

I didn't say xenons and leather was rare. He said it had recaros which I think are quite rare in the gti.
Monza II's really suit the car, need to treat them well to keep them looking their best long term
though.

In retrospect, I miss not having Xenons. It gives the car that extra mean look and it's more difficult to retrofit than the ED30 bodykit.
Some of the others will argue the Recaros are better seats than the standards.
Then again, the edition 30's an edition 30!
I'd go with the others - if you're gonna mod (ie above revo stage 1), then go for the ED30. Otherwise go for the GTI.
-
Any way you slice it I'd go for the ED30.
Have you driven them both?

ED30 gets my vote.

ED30 mate, all the way, The xenons are a nice extra, however I don't like the leather seats at all.
The ED30 has so many nice subtle extra's, colour coded front, skirts, bumper, nicer seats, stitched wheel, gaiter and handbrake, and nicer alloys too, And if you really wanted to you could put xenons on for a few hundred £. I think they hold the value better than a regular GTI too.

And if you really wanted to you could put xenons on for a few hundred £.
And the rest !!
To do a proper job of putting xenon's on your MK5 its well over 1k.

ED30
you'll be bitten by the modding bug soon after so start with the quicker car to begin with
-
Personal taste I suppose, but I'd take the Xenons over an ED30. Don't like the colour coded bumpers or the alloys. Performance increase will be negligible in real terms if anything at all.
But if you're into modding perhaps the ED30 is the way to go

Had a very high spec std GTi, and on my 3rd gti, last one being the Ed30.
Ed30 is fantastic, drives alot better the the std GTi's. No brainer, get the edition30 ,you will loose more in your pocket later with the std car.
-
ED30 without doubt.
What colours are both cars?
-
I have had both cars , and the Edition30 is a much better car more power also VW have been a bit concervative about the figures they are faster than what they are putting out if you get my drift . Its an excellent car DSG is even better just get one and enjoy steve30

Is this the refrain of one with a normal GTI?
I'll agree to differ. The performance difference is noticable, xenons are not all they're cracked up to be. I'd take the Ed30 and put some decent headlamp bulbs in it...

after parking upto an ed30 the other day i really want one more than before
so my vote is for the ed30
