didnt say in that article but the golf is the most sold car in britain more second hand sales where recorded by the dvla for golf than any other car, cant remember the others but for escort came in 3rd.

personally i thought the austin alegro should have come first what with that square steering wheel months later you had to buy a flipping adaptor to fit a round one on.

you ever opened an old book only to find it musty, flaky in places and dust flying everywhere.

thats the experience of sitting in an alegro.

Austin were on a completely different planet.


The golf certainly slams it on the article was it the mail that contrasted the alergo's power against the golf,  0-60 in 19.5 seconds warp speed i tell you warp speed.
