Title: coilovers!!! help
Post by: golfgar on 11 July 2009, 12:57
just removed front strut, took apart old strut to get the washer out for bearings to sit on,but no washer!!!looks like the only way to sort this is to get a washer for bearing to sit on then get smaller washers to put inside of bearing for support, thought these hottunning coilovers were suppose to be a straight forward fit????

What washer? The bearing sits on top of the plate.

Springs on,top plate on(red bit),bearing then your rubber top mount, all held together with one vw nut.

if you put the bearing on the top of these hottuning coilies i got,the bearing is alot wider than the top of the strut and the outer half of bearing is sat on feck all,and i would have thought they wouldnt last long like that, got them on at last,if i had known what a crap fit they were i would have saved my hard earned pennies and bought better ones.

i didnt have a washer, but in the fitting guide someone sent me a link to he had washers, but like i said earlier the top of the coilie is a smaller diameter than the bearing,am i the only one to have had this problem? i know you get what you pay for,but you would have thought they would fit.never mind all done now just got to get them set up right.

got no pics mate,in the pic of the coilies you put up you said the bearing sits on the red cap.on mine are the same but the cap top where the bearing sits has a smaller diameter than the bearing, imagine bearing is a 2p piece and top of strut is a 5p piece,if that makes any sense
