so just so i get an idea,
il planning a project but one thing htat will determine what i can do is the insurance
looking at a r32 lump in a mkII so im assuming once ive told the insurance comp they would insure the car based on that engine? not really sure how it works :P
-
Yeah I think the car will then take on the insurance group of the R32 engine. However insurance will probably be a specialist only job due to the swap.
You could try Brentacre as you can be covered up to a certain BHP and all your mods will be covered.

cool ill look into it :)

Also worth trying HIC or Adrian Flux, you will need an engineers report to confirm the standard of work.
-
Martin once told me they base it on the car the engine came from, then tweak it a bit. So you'd basically be trying to insure a modified R32 :lipsrsealed: ... that being said, if its a weekend toy you could stick it on a classic limited mileage type dealio.. my rallye used to cost less than 200 quid a year that way.

cool ill look into it :)
drop Dai a PM mate - think he pays approx £500 or thereabouts for his converted 1.8T
