I am wanting to lower my mk2 16v by about 40mm. I am running 16x7 wheels and 205/45-16 tyres. Would i need to have the arches rolled or could i get away without doing it? Trying to avoid doing the arches as most of them i have seen done around my area have been butchered and it is causing rust. lol. Anyone running a similar setup?

Hi there!? I have dropped my baby 40mm and I'm well running 15x7 wheels and 195/50/15 tyres.? I had to roll my arches cos they were rubbing so I would imagine yours will definately rub - but also depends on your suspension firmness.? Rolling them was dead easy though I did it myself, just took the wheels off and tapped the arch upwards with a rubber lump hammer, then put anti-corrosion sealant over the cracked paint - did the trick? ;) ;D :P

Do/Did you need to cut the plastic arch trim? Sorry to hijack the thread ;)

Im running 17x7 on my 8V and its been lowered 40mm.. but they have an offset of et37.. they do not rub at all.. but they do on full lock on the inner side of the body.. not the arch.
Hope this helps.
