How is it that I order my car long before most on these forums bar a couple, Yet people all seem to be getting delivery times ahead of mine, Ive been pushed back to Sept 1st now. I dont think ive ordered anything that nobody else hasn't, Leather,White,3dr,Xenons,RCD-10,18" + tyre pressure and all that crap.
Yet I got given build week 31.
Is my dealer just crap, Took a £1000 deposit which they've had for like 4months nearly by time car will be delievered.
P:S originally I was told July 30th

A call to VW customer care maybe?
-
when i ordered the dealer said they had pre ordered 4 mk6 gti`s the idea being if someone like me came in and wanted one to there own spec they could alter the order, basically they had booked there place in the queue, seems to have worked being as i ordered on 22nd of may and its in next week, less than 10 weeks i think.
-
I know how you feel  I ordered the very first day the car was launched here in France (May 1) and am still looking at a mid-August delivery. My dealer says it's because I ordered a bespoke car, but I haven't really taken any unusual options apart from maybe the winter pack (heated seats).
This is the longest I have ever had to wait for a new car and it is a bit frustrating when you see people on here and other forums getting their cars just a few weeks after they ordered.
-
I ordered last Wednesday and the dealer said maybe September. But I'm not counting on it. The other dealer I spoke to said 3 months, which would take us into October.
It would be niice to have it for the summer, but as I'm getting such a good deal (£4,000 off list including scrappage on the old car) I'm not going to b!tch about a bit of a wait. The old car is still running fine anyway, touch wood.

Hi all,
I ordered my manual United Grey Golf GTI Mk6 with Executive package, 18" wheels, 35% tint and ACC on 09/06/09 and my car arrived on 18 June 2009. According to the dealership, they had ordered the car way back in February and coincidentally it matches what I had in mind. I am now just waiting for the paperwork to get done. It will take 2 weeks or so for the Dutch Road Transport Dept to issue the license numbers. So it takes approximately 4 months to get the car....

What do you get with an "Executive package"? That's not one of the options the Brits get to choose.
Rolfe.
-
How about some pics when you take delivery so that us Brits can see the different colour and spec of cars purchased on the continent! Meanwhile hope you enjoy your car when you get it.

The Executive Package includes the Volkswagen touchscreen with colour radio-navigation system ‘RNS 310’, CD-Rom Player, onboard computer plus display, MP3 player, Benelux CD-Rom for the navigation, 2 Cup Holders, Multifunction leather sterring wheel with leather gear shift and handgrip, multimedia and telephone adapter.
I am not a Dutch speaker so translation is not that accurate. I attached the Dutch version below in case someone can better translate it.

Sure I will upload some pics of the car when I get it. I have not seen much United Grey versions of the Golf GTI so far but I hear its a popular colour in the Netherlands.

I really, really like the colour of the car at the Paris motor show.
Sigh.
If it was good enough for one of the car's first public appearances, I can't see why it wasn't good enough for the customers.

Sorry for being ignorant, but what was the colour of the GTI at the PAris motor show? Was it the carbon steel or the united grey?
Thanks..

I'm copying here some of the post where I saw the pics, lovely shade of blue.

Whooaa, I thought I had seen a darker grey version at the Paris Show in some forum. I have been spending the last 20 mins looking for those photos but to no avail. I love the blue here. How I wished I was staying in Germany. But paying an additional Euro2,2k for it, I would rather get the DSG and leather seats....

No way on God's green earth would I pay 2,000 euros for a paint job. Not even if it was gold plated. I cannot see why anyone would pay these prices.
Rolfe.

People who want to be seen in a different light? Like ladies who pay exorbitant amounts of money to look dashing and wondrous in one-off dresses when attending gala evenings or to be with the Queen? ha ha ha aaaauuuuooowwww

That's quite funny 'cos I just finished a phone call with a friend who's going to a Buckingham Palace garden party and was telling me about her hat. Pictures, I said, or it didn't happen.
The thing about the colours I saw (and indeed probably any colour at all that VW could dream up) is that they might be exclusive on the Golf GTi, but you can find the same or similar colours on your average Ford Ka. 2,000 euros for a paint job that will only be recognised as exclusive by a handful of in-the-know nerds is hardly worth it.

Wow I'm really loving that blue!! Why oh why can we not have that as one of our options? VW in their wisdom obviously think UK buyers are boring and want the dullest pallet available. Mind you if they are charging the money everyone says us brits would tell them where to stick their colour pallets cos for too long we have danced the tune that Europe sets us.
-
Apparently there were three cars at Paris, a red one, a white one, and that blue one. The blue one is the only one of the three colours not available here.
I would have had that blue, no question. It's probably my favourite colour for a car. VW are a bunch of party-poopers.

ha ha ha yeah... lol... I am a nerd...ok ok... but thats what makes the unique colours special... and attracts me to them...

LOL, how did you manage to order the car if you no speaka da lingo? In fact how do you get by day to day, or are we missing something here?
Going back to that blue, it's very similar to the Speed Blue on SEATs and not far off some of the blues Audi use too and they definately don't charge 2k Euros for a spash of colour in their paint range. Looks a bit like Laser Blue from the early mk5 Golf too now I think about it.
United Grey is the same as Steel Grey for those that are in the least bit interested. My UK spec Steel Grey car has the same paint code as the Euro United Grey anyway (mk5).

Well, to answer that question, mate... The Dutch speaks fluent english and I work with international organisations and the diplomatic corp.. so most of the people speak english. Besides, a Dutch pork sausage looks similiar to pork sausage from Yorkshire... hmmm apples look the same here too... ha ha ha
-
I do not understand why it would cost so much for a more unique colour? Perhaps if it were Euro1k, I might reconsider but over 2k, thats just a sin to pay money for. But in the end, it does not matter, the colour options are only for those buying from Germany. The rest of the continent, we will just have to live with the 10 or so options of colours...

 Enough said! Always emabarasses me when I go abroad how well everyone speaks English except the Brits!!!
PS Any jobs going over there?

Ten or so options! Sounds great!
Nine actually.
Two black
Three grey
One white
One red
Two dark blue
Not such an inspiring spectrum when you get down to it.

hi hi hi after seeing what colour choices the Germans have... I didnt count how many colours the rest of Europe did get... too sad...
-
If i remember right by someone on another forum that was there said it was the scirocco blue iirc rising blue rather than deep blue pearl of the mk5 R32s but does not look it in photos.
-
The Fire Spark metallic red of the show car at the resent VW show was nice imo too.

I'm not really a red car person, but I like that.
Rolfe.
-
That Firespark is very classy. Similar to Chilli red VW did on Golfs a few years ago.
-
Glad someone asked this question. I was a bit dissapointed when I was planning out a spec on the VW site-that you cannot get this very nice burst of blue!
Maybe they might give it to the R20, like the Deep blue on the R32. (me hopes!)
