Title: launching the 1.8t ko3

No i'm not throwing the turbo away, was wondering the best way of launching off the line. I've a track day coming up next weekend and i want to get the best time possible  :rolleyes: but i don't really want to slaughter my clutch and tyres practicing. (and i'll look like a chav in tescos carpark)

2.5k and dump the clutch or should i be a little more sympathetic and load up the drivetrain (hold it on biting point) and feed the clutch in and floor it at the same time?

Boost starts a bit under 2k - i guess a 4k launch is gonna end in tears or tyre smoke

if it's your first track day.. the launch off the line should be the least of your worries :grin:

there is no golden rpm rule, so much depends on tyres/suspension and even weather conditions.. just feed the power in without lighting the tyres up

I didn't know they did track days at the TG track, but the norm is usually a rolling start from the pit lane!! :D

Do not bang the clutch in or you will instantly spin the wheels up, The clutch should be slipped while not breaking traction.

Unfortunately the only way to perfect this method is to practice. :wink:

@ ivor mk4 they don't mate, but you know the saying its not what you know but who you know  :wink:

And its not official or anything but we'll be using the official track. just not got proper timing gear so its gonna be a stopwatch jobby.

I'm off to practice my chav skills  :embarassed:

Really? I hated the way it looked when i bought it,it looks nothing like that now :cool:
