legend!
so the cams peak at about 5.5k, good to know.
i think with all the servicing, a new cam and panel filter it should push it to about 130
-
well I will let you know
That rolling road was done with normal unleaded fuel, and no servicing for 22k miles.
I'm running Kent GS23H cam, pipercross panel filter, cold air intake and a heavily modified air box now.
On the 3rd of October I have organized another RR day at JKM, I will know the results then, but before I do take it on the rollers again, I am gonna de-cat it and chip it, and it shall be running on v-power, it has also been serviced now, so should be to full potential
Aiming for 135-140hp.

Hi Khare!
What profile cam you running? If you don't mind me asking and how does it effect your idle and emmissions? Also have you really noticed a gain?
I got a Newman cam up the shed sitting there waiting to be fitted I am just in 2 minds. Also got a cylinder head I polished out myself for it to sit in! Just dont want it to fail MOT or cause problems with ecu etc!
Cheers
Pete

its a 285 cam, idles very lumpy (some love it, some don't, I...love it).
No idea on emissions, have not had the car tested for them, however, I have lost about 5-8 mpg through normal driving.
Gain wise, yes it is noticeable. Below 2700ish rpm it has lost power, but once it is over that the gain is very good. It used to run out of steam at 5500rpm, but now pulls all the way to the rev limiter.

Yes i used to work for a tuning specialist and its amazing how much extra power you can get with a high lift long duration cam but you need to use webber 40 0r 45 carbs as the fuel injection ecu goes what the f***. With webbers, a high lift cam, only 8 valves and a decent exhaust a 100 hp per litre is easily acheavable. The gtis 55-60 hp per litre is pretty small fry.

Cheers guys there is still some stuff to think about guess :undecided:!
-
right so if i put a cam in mine, pressure test the block and get it skimmed to make sure there are no leaks.
will i have to remap the ecu to get it running right ? or will the ecu cope
-
no the std ecu will be able to cope with it.

Ran mine with a de cat pipe for a bit, was loud and lost MPG also felt a bit breathless under 3k, No chip fitted maybe this will meter the fuel better for de cat not sure :undecided:.
Can recomend Hoffman sport cat though  and MK2 cam
-
Mk2 cam  Really? Heard about this, does it work well?
-
Yeah I heard bout it too. Aint better than a kent 285 cam however
