Title: VR6 auto prob, is this common?

Alright lads and ladies  :cool:

Just wondering if its common for mk3 VR Auto's to have a gear selection problem, as in it wont select it so no drive, but then sometimes does?

WIll be a box problem, would be worth changing the fluid first and check the old fluid if it smells burnt or has bits in it panic as it means the box is on its way out.
