Hi all, first time poster, stumbled across this forum today! Was just wondering what kind of delivery times you lot are getting on a new Mk 6? I ordered mine first weekend in May and I've been told the earliest I'll get it is end Sep/1st week of Oct - are you guys experiencing the same loooooong delay?! cheers in advance!
-
That seems a bit long, what spec did you order. I ordered June 27 and expecting first week in Sept
-
That does seem long. I just ordered yesterday, and I was told maybe September. The dealer I didn't order from was saying October, irrespective of the specs.

That's what I thought, having to wait 5 months from date of order is killing me!
spec is: 5 dr, deep black pearl, leather seats, xenons, 18" monzas, RCD 510 with dynaudio, winter pack and luxury pack. so nothing too mental - dunno why its taking so long!! i think the dealer couldn't put through the order till 1st June as xenons weren't available as an option till then but still seems like a really long time to wait! especially as i have sold my mk 5 gti and that goes end of this month so im left with the missus cr7ppy old car as she has just got a new one!!!
-
Mine was ordered 02 May and nobody really knows when it is coming now .. looking like August some time but it still does not have a build week. Which garage did you order from?
-
looks like i have been shafted somewhat then, i think i'll have to get the dealer to chase VW - cheers!
-
its Wayside which is a VW dealership and they have a few dotted around so they should know what they are doing!

It was 01May you could order xenon's as thats what i had to wait for until i ordered. Although it wouldn't surprise me if the Xenons are holding things up.
Im sure Simonpolly is getting xenon's on his and his is coming in the next 2 weeks though so maybe not.
-
Yeah mine is through Verve and they have a few garages north of the border so i would have though it would be quickish with them too ... obviously not!
-
looks like there is no ryhme or reason for the delay then if some of you are getting it early and some of you don't have a build date - is just frustrating as its not like i'm ordering an audi R10 or anything - then i would expect to have to wait!!!
-
It could also be that your dealer has an allocation of one or two a month and they already had orders for their allocation.
Maybe they put your order in the month after?
Also certain speccs can cause delays (sunroof, xenons)
I ordered mine 3 weeks ago and have been told Sept 1st.
-
that's just not fair lol! i know that they only had 1 allocated a month and the xenons were an issue but if you're ordering 3 weeks ago and its turning up before mine then i'm not happy lol!!! cheers for all your info though, hope you enjoy your new cars as much as i know i will with mine!!
-
Get in contact with that dealer and see what excuse they have. Dont forget to post what they tell ya
-
Ordered to my spec on 22nd may, coming in next week.
-
Ordered mine 23rd May 5 door deep pearl, monza shadows, sunroof, rcd 510 + dynaudio, acc, winter pack and xenons. Was told August phoned yesterday to say is now built and getting shipped next week so will be with me by end of month.
You want to go to see your dealer and ask what's going on!!
-
i had a quote from dealdrivers and they said late sep/ early oct if i order now.
-
That's the hymn they've all been singing to me too.
What was your DealDrivers quote like? They were going to get back to me after I called them just after the last car had gone at the prices on their web page, but I emailed them and said thanks, but I just got a good quote from a local dealer.
My dealer came in £500 more than the DealDrivers figures for the price that was no longer available. Which I thought was quite good enough, given that I could see the whites of their eyes and I wouldn't have to drive hundreds of miles to collect. But I'd be interested to know where they're pitching it now.

Are you sure that's not just for people buying with the scrappage scheme Rolfe ?
Also, I see on their site that they are still advertising the GTI at the same price, so if what you're saying is true and they no longer have GTI's at the price you were quoted at then they are false advertising ? I'd have thought as their prices are updated as from 9th July that they would still be valid ?
-
I couldn't say for sure. I told them I had a car eligible for scrappage, and I didn't ask about a no-scrappage deal. However, the text just said, these are the prices, and you can take off another £2000 for scrappage, so I'd assumed it didn't make any difference (unlike Broadspeed, who wouldn't budge a penny with scrappage but would talk deals without).
Do they still have the block of text that says the GTis have all been sold at that price, but call them for another quote?
ETA: Yes, but the date has changed to Thursday, whereas I originally saw it with Tuesday's date.
PRODUCTION NOTE - 9th July
* GTI production allocation for our VW dealers is now full, we do have another dealer still with some allocation but at a slightly lower discount than the deals shown below, ask for details
I think you need to contact them for an up-to-date quote. Though of course they should update the actual page.

Ooops, I think I missed it if this is the one your talking about...

Interesting that they say they have a place even cheaper than whats advertised on their site.
If I dont get a good deal through my work when I order, then I think I'll use broadspeed, they have garages in Scotland so easier for me to get the car. What were they like when you talked to them ?
-
hey just thought... can't we do a group buy from this forum?!

See my edit of my above post.
The guy I spoke to was very pleasant and as far as I could judge, quite genuine. However, he said they no longer have a dealer in Scotland, as far as I remember. (I wasn't that bothered because I could easily drive to England for a good deal.) When I phoned, he asked me straight off if I was the person who had emailed the previous evening, and I said yes. He explained that the last car at those prices had just gone, and said to refresh the screen - that's when I saw the note, originally dated 7th July - it's not there on the printouts I made on the evening of 6th July.
He said he would email me a quick note to make contact, and would I reply to it so that he had my contact. He would then email me with an updated quote. However, by the time I got home to pick up my email, I'd already stopped at the Verve garage and got such a good deal it wasn't worth driving to England after all. So I replied to the email as requested, but with a note to say thanks a lot, but I'd actually got a local deal I was happy with.
I've since had another routine promotional email from them, that's all.
Note that they're saying the deal they can offer is a LOWER DISCOUNT - that is a higher actual price, than what is on the site. It might still be decent value though. That is, if Keelaw isn't getting the last of this bunch!
When I phoned I was answered immediately by a real human being, who knew about my email, so I guess they're not a huge outfit. Might be just one or two people. I have a web hosting company like that and their service is fantastic. Of course I don't know, but the conversation I had seemed to be with someone genuine, intelligent, and not a conman.

i.e. a £400 lower discount? the light comes on!

true, imagine the legals, the financials, the hassle... would it be worth it?
before we know it, we'll be swearing at each other and calling each other tosser....

Would never happen on here mate, never.

am waiting for a call back from my dealer as i can't believe the lead time i'm having to put up with - so thanks for the kick up the ar7e chaps!! hopefully he can push it through quicker!
as you're talking about discounts, i know its tight out there but you will get some if you haggle - i got my gap insurance (£500), my safeguard (in and out of car) cover and also the winter pack all chucked in for free - so drive a hard bargain and you'll get some money off!!
-
dealer called me back, said until the order has been in place for 16 weeks (I ordered it on 4th May 09) there isn't much he can do in terms of chasing it with VW - unfortunately there isn't any cars in actual production at the moment with the same spec as mine but i wouldn't want that anyway as i would feel like i was nicking one off someone else! so as its only been 10 weeks guess i'm just gonna have to wait! he did say that once it hits the production line they do move pretty quick so fingers crossed! thanks for all your help though chaps!
-
Just got confirmed that my order from 02May is going to be build week 31 which is 27July (12 weeks to get that far!!)
How long have people been waiting from their build week to the car arriving in the uk?
-
you lucky so and so, i ordered on 4th May and I'm still being told 30 September delivery!! what area are you in cause i think i need to move lol
-
ps what spec do you have so i can guage what is holding mine up?! thanks!
-
Aberdeen but i ordered in Glasgow
White 3 door DSG
Bi Xennon
18" Monza Shadows
RNS 510 + Dynaudio
Cruise Control
Storage Pack
DAB
Did order Bluetooth but took it off as my fone is not compatible so am getting another system fitted on delivery.
-
no idea what is holding mine up then as i have the same options as you but 5 dr with no cruise control but have the winter pack and leather. grrrr!!
-
This is all very weird!! as I have posted before I ordered my car on 23rd May and last week was told it is shipping now, actually today!! my spec is 5 door deep pearl black
18" monza shadow
sunroof
xenons
winter pack
acc
rcd510 + dynaudio
so in that aspect it is very similar to other people on the forum who have ordered early May and have been told September. Are you guys sure your stealers put in the orders on the dates they said?
-
this is the irritating thing, i have spoken to my dealer and he still says build week 35/36 (i think) - either way he says its due 30 september and i ordered 4th may. i'm getting quite wound up really as all you chaps seem to have ordered in may and are now getting your cars whereas mine hasn't even been started yet!! don't really know what else to do bar asking my dealer who looked on the system and said its still due end of sep?! and my spec is same as yours but without sunroof!!
-
The dealers pre ordered and then changed the spec once people had brought them, car launch was 22nd may so if they placed there orders in march/april then they are going to arrive early.
-
Yup, thats what happened to me. I ordered on 9 June and my future car is already here. When I looked at the car papers, it was ordered in February 2009.
-
I went to place an order for one last week in June (with a tentative delivery date of 20th November), however a week later I discover that the dealer would not take the deposit off me because he says that VW will not accept the order. He says I'll be lucky to see one this side of Christmas (I think he means Christmas 2009!).

What??!! Find another dealer!
The first dealer I went to (on 4th July) said "three months, regardless of what specs you order." I placed my actual order with a different dealer (better discount) on 8th July, and he said "maybe September".
The second dealer also called up ready-built cars on his screen and offered me a choice of about half a dozen that I could have almost immediately, though I didn't bite on that one because he didn't have one with the specs I was looking for.
If your dealer can't sell you a car, there are plenty who will.
Rolfe.
-
I just placed my order today, will post more about it later, but basically I was told it would be 99.99% certain that it will be late sept/ early oct.
-
Ordered mine at the end of June, though the dealer couldn't place the order with VW until the 1st July as they'd already sold thier June allocation. On 1st July he told me its build week was 38 (14/09/09), that's just over 11 weeks, though it will then take a couple or three more to get to blighty & be ready to pick up.
-
Strange I've just got my build week and though I ordered today, my build week is 34. i.e. mid-Aug. Hopefully means I get the car in 2nd/3rd week in Sep
