Title: Revs dropping when pulling up to stop
Post by: thickfreakness on 08 July 2009, 20:48
mk3 8v revs drop when I pull up to stop more so when cold or when I have the lights on - to the point where it has cut out any ideas?
could it be the alternator or a temp sender if the temp sender where is it and can you test it?

Temputure comtrol valve is in the centre of the engine, large water pipe going into it, pull the green clip out and replace wih new one, it costs 21 pound from euro part. remeber to do it when the engine is cold othervise you will get splashed with hot water. good luck

i had this problem with my 8v. turned out to be an oil leak form the breather pipe which was pouing oil into the thottle body. put an oil breather on the enf of the pipe instead of the vw black baox thing on top of engine and is so much better. revs dont drop at all now.

When you put the lights on the alternator puts the engine under strain this is normal. look here for clues as to why your car is cutting out.
