How simple is it to transfer a MK3 engine into a MK2? Just wondering what complications there are and what benefits it would have. I know you get it to 2.0L 16v, but what advantages would it have over the 1.8L 16v?
Cheers

12bhp more and more tuning potential :)

Sounds good. But how easy is it? I was looking at a wiring loom for the 1.8T conversion too, and it seems the cost will come down due to this. Anyone else see it in PVW this month?

ben leach's new company thing? yeah looks interesting

put the 9a 2.0l block on your engine :D the head on the mk2 16v is better than the mk3 one i think
-
vdub 16v is rite, put the 9a block in.
no point in the mk3 16v enfine matey.
the 9a is well tuneable ;)
bit of fettling and you could easily be pushing 170bhp ;)
shouldnt be too hard to find as vw put the 9a block into the old passats as well :)

You can also use a 6A block out of an Audi. :)
-
isn't the 6A block shorter so it gives better low down power too?
-
This sounds very good guys. What sort of price should I be paying for one.
-
you shudnt have to pay any more than 500 bar for a 9a block :)

Ive got both a mk2 with the abf 2.0 16v engine from a mk 3 and a mk2 16v with a passat 2.0 bottom end. To be honest i like the origional 16v with the 2.0 conversion better because it seems more responsive bottom end. I think the abf is probably slightly quicker and has more pull top end but for the time effort and cost it would take to do a swap i wouldent bother.
P.S Im selling the car with the ABF conversion. Looking for about ?2000 its in imaculace condition.
