As above just wondered because it says that on my insurence form but mine is 150bhp
-
yes
-
2.0 8v - 115bhp
1.8 20v N/A - 125bhp.
1.8T 20v - 150bhp (2002+ and Anni models are 180bhp)
HTH.
-
Do you think i should tell the insurence, i thought it was cheap :undecided:
-
i could say i didnt know it had a turbo
-
Do you think i should tell the insurence, i thought it was cheap :undecided:
so your insurance company has classed it as the 125bhp version?? :undecided:
this happens from time to time - i remember after i viewed the car i started getting quotes and they listed it as a 115 not a 130
i'd be inclined to tell them the error of their ways as you know when the time comes (well hopefully not) that they will try every which way to get out of paying

I agree, you would benifit from low payments but in the event of someone claiming on you, your car would then be under a fine tooth comb and as soon as they see its a turbo you'd be screwed!.
-
Don't suppose you're with Norwich Union? My mate insured his civic vti with them using the reg and when the docs came back they classed it as a civic shuttle. No matter how many times he told them it was wrong, they weren't having any of it. In the end he gave up and just left it.
Just another thing to add to the list of strange things insurance companies do!
-
How did they come to the conclusion that its a 125bhp model? Via your reg or by you entering it in?
-
esure :smug:

£196 a year im not complaning

You will be when you have to claim and your insurance is void! Ring them and tell them as technicaly your not insured as your not insuring the right model of car...
Oh and be prepared for a price hike in your premium (group 10 to 14)!!

^ spot on comments there.

Ill get it remapped first as i have money to burn at moment (never had a accidenent in 13 years )its there problem

No ..... It's YOUR problem. Get you insurance sorted and then get a remap. (And remember to tell your insurance about that too!)
-
That's about as good as having no insurance at all. It's not your own driving you need to worry about, its all the other twits on the road that don't pay attention.

lol I love naivety :D
It wont be their problem when you write your car off and they see on their records that your car is a group 10 1.8 N/A, send an assessor to look at your car and then points out that in fact your car is a group 14 1.8T. That sir will be your problem as your left with a smashed up hunk of junk and no payout.
-
umm see im with jame and the others
i would tell the insurance its a turbo but i wouldnt declare the remap (im not with mine)

And just a reminder of what others can do to your car, here is a pic of my brothers pride and joy after someone aquaplained into him and his wife whilst stationary waiting to turn right... They walked out of it luckily.

bit risky with such an obviously modified car
-
everything is declared paint kit wheels induction exhaust ect im jus not gonna declare the extra bhp :)
-
lol so everything isn't declared . . . . . . .
Insurance companies will find any which way possible not to pay. You can declare everything you want but if they find something thats not right and there is a lot of money involved they will run with it. Im not saying that they will find the remap should the worst happen, and I had a car like yours (and was a rageing puff or a girl) I know its something I wouldnt want to risk. Just my 2 pence.

Ignorance is no excuse..................... This is implanted on a loss adjusters' brain from day 1!! :D
-
Either way whatever you declare, the insurance people will NOT want to pay out! But are quick enough if you miss a payment for it!!!
-
I tried to ignore this but I could'nt. What is the point of doing any mods to your car if it's not insured. For f@@k sake you said the other day Linz that you had spent £10k on the car, so if you have a bang you will either get very little back or f@@k all because you did'nt declare it. Don't take this the rong way and everyone is entitled to their own way of thinking but I would rather check with the insurance company first then have a remap etc etc. Might not cost as much as you thought also all your hard earned money would be protected.
Rant over.

This happened in May 07 Steve when they were on holiday in Cornwall... Needless to say he replaced it with another Mk4 which is the one he has now. Goes to show how strong they are as this was driven into at 50mph!
-
Ah thats alright, thought he'd been in a accident recently.
They are strong, its just the little things which let them down :lipsrsealed:
-
Yeah know what you mean matey!! I don't think his intercooler clips held up in this collision!!
