right i have the 2.0 gti year 2000 115bhp model...am i in the right section? lol. i have 17's wolfrace alloys on it, how low can i lower it without the tyres rubbing?
also what mods can i do to make it quicker? ie full system exhaust? turbo? induction kit? i havent a clue about these cars in the sligtest so any help would be appriciated
-
sell it and buy a 1.8t

lowering should be qte alot with 17's as tht is thought on the smaller end of the scale for a mk4 i hae 19's ans mine is about 50-60 drop - you could just buy coilovers so then you can drop as you please
the 2.0l is aka the snail :lipsrsealed: but you will be able to get abit of extra bhp by full system, induction kit ect an mayebe even chip it :)
-
sell it and buy a diesel
corrected that for you

right ok fair enough, i'm guessing by your comments that a 1.8t is alot faster right? and my rover 25 1.4 keeps up with the golf lol, anyways not too arsed at the moment, trying to calm down with my driving now lol
ok so i can drop it basically on its arse without any problems, also fitting a full system and induction kit am i looking at like a 10bhp difference at the highest?
and when you said chip it, you don't mean the chips off ebay which promise 5million bhp gain? lol can you explain a little more by any chance please
cheers for quick replies

chips are old hat, a bit pointless opening up the ecu if you can just plug a computer into the obd2 port and flash the eprom in the ecu. talk to R-tech and im sure they can give you an extra 10 bhp..
a full system would be benificial and aslo an enclosed induction system.. that should give you a bit more..
a good suspension system and better brakes will also cut your time!

personally mate i think n/a engines (cars that are naturally aspirated i.e. no turbos or superchargers) are very hard to tune!
I have driven a saxo vts for a year before my golf and i was stuck on what to do.
Here a couple of tips for more power! This is what i did to my saxo (yes i know what a dirty, chavvy, horrible car lol)
1. Full exhaust system(decat)
2. Performance cams £300 and remap, another £300
3. Throttle bodies, jenvey (£3500) off these expect massive bhp gains!pricey, yet very very very very worth it, and sound crazily good!
4. Supercharger
5 Turbo (£5,000) for an average priced full turbo kit.
6 Sell it and buy the 1.8t
Hope this helps
