i use to have bonnet raisers on both of my escort rs turbos and it helped a bit with cooling etc under bonnet....
was wunderin if it can be done to the golf ?? ne ideas ?
-
whats a bonnet raiser? obviously from the name, something that raises the bonnet i geuss..?
-
i was looking at the hinges on the mk4 the other day and imo it surely can be done easily with some spacers!
mk3s are not the same so it would be a little more difficult!.
-
there a just a spacer that sits on the ingne of the bonnet so that the rear of the bonnet sits up higher than normal ... about 2-3" so the hot air can be released from the engine more and help with cooling..... im goin to have a loo at the hinge 2morrow i thiink and see wot i can do ill keep people posted...
-
does your 1.8t overheat regular then?
-
no lol just that the cooler the better
-

at the end of the day, the guy wants to do something for its function, not to look like a chav..
its a performance thing thats been done for many years and it works. thats why he is asking.
and the simple answer is yes it can be done quite easily on the mk4

and for you lot with your impreza vents etc u know wot to do with them ..........lol

it looks awful, makes it look like the car has been accident repaired badly. all in my opinion.
And its not cool if you have to explain it
where abouts does your temp guage sit? in the middle? or on the hot or cold sides?
-
just shy on middle never more...

just shy on middle never more...
that suggests that your car gets more than adequate cooling and your water pump is still intact
although it should sit bang on the middle ideally

Tou-che man. I agree too if the bloke wants to do it crack on. I cant do with people who sit there blatantly slagging something off because they dont like it, yes you are entitled to your opinion but I was always taught to not run down another mans tackle (serious here), its like the way my mates bird goes on about how sh!t my 4mo is because it may be a little heavier than an average hatchback (and she has an Astra 'H' diesel ), and if you think it looks sh!t then why do you care its not as if you have to drive it. Im sorry to get on the case but recently there has become a lot of strongly opinionated people in this world who have been at times quite rude about someones tastes. adding IMO or IMHO doesnt make it better either, just dont.
OP, if you like it and think it will help with cooling then crack on hell i'll even do it too just to piss some people off.
Rant over, im off in my fat, overweight, yellowised, sh!tty / chavvy tinted, sh!theap, of a golf now for a drive cos i like it.
