ON A MK4 GTI ,WHEN SHOULD YOU CHANGE THE CAM BELT....

EVERY YEAR...............


between 40K and 60K or 4 years which ever happens first

some will way 40K, others 60K - when they first came out VW said 120K!!

mines been done every 50K though mines a little different

i changed mine last week my car is a 03 52 reg done 27k they advised me to change it because the rubber belt tarnishes over time i ask them to keep the belt for me when i looked after it had been changed to my amazment it look bloody brand new still. cant risk it though :sad:

Get it from the dealer mate as I think they have a shelf life, plus parts bought from a VW dealer come with warranty. Oh and they aren't £130 from the dealer... More like £60 I think  :wink:

what engine code have you got? just checked his part number on etka and lists it for AQM, AGR, ALH, AHF, ASV

Have rung VW as the parts are open late at night on a Tuesday till 8pm and he said that number was for a 150bhp and I have a 130bhp so wouldnt fit?

Have no idea lol.....just am a gt tdi 130bhp...I gave them my reg number and they said I am an A not an E?
