Title: Is there another?
Post by: tg1 on 06 July 2009, 13:56
I'm looking for a guide on how to fit a t.i.p. Mainly as the t.i.p i have looks a fair bit different to the standard one, but not tried to fit it yet as don't want to ruin anything

"Looks different to the standard one" - in what way?

I must say a guide is always useful (especially with pics) but the TIP is fairly straightforward, just make sure you know where everything connects to (take some pics on a digi camera or do a little sketch) so it all goes back in the same place on refitting.

you need to remove both the plastic and metal piece (i assume thats what you mean by different)

hmm not sure what happened to the how-to link

I'm sure Rich will dig up another from somewhere :afro:

i know which pipe it is - what i'm saying is its in 2 parts hence why i said you need to remove the plastic and metal part; the metal part is connected directly to the turbo

also i assume you've bought the correct one for your engine code as there are at least 2 different types - one fits the Ko3 and the other fits the KO3s.  The Ko3s may require a blanking plug for one of the ports

it said 1.8t, assumed it was one piece for all 1.8t's.

Dammit.

Might actually fit if i take that metal pipe off - maybe i should of looked properly first  :embarassed:

its fairly straightforward, only advice i would give is the little pipe that plugs in near the very bottom of the TIP by the turbo.. attach that BEFORE you feed the pipe down the engine and attach it to the turbo inlet flange, otherwise it's a bit fiddly to get to.

As i've said before I reckon even a complete novice can do this in 2-3 hours if you use ramps.

Cheers mate, bet you a pack of smarties i've got the wrong turbo.

Does anyone think i should fit this seperatly to the long arm pov spec air filter i've got sat here? or should i do it all at once?

KO3 TIP (Forge, anyways) fits both the KO3 & KO3 "S" turbo. ;)

The only way you'll be knackered is if you've got a KO3 & have ordered the KO3 "S" TIP.
