Title: Oil catch can fitted and throttle housing clean up
Post by: Wazzzer on 05 July 2009, 21:10
Well after a couple of hours and a few chunks of skin missing I have fitted my catch can and routed all the pipes and I've got to say I'm very pleased with the way it's turned out

I'll be recording how much oil I empty out of it, gonna empty it every month to start with and see how it goes from there.

I've tried to keep it looking as OEM as possible by keeping ALL of my engine covers and I think I've succeeded but any comments welcome

I also gave my throttle housing a good clean out. A word of warning, don't get the carb cleaner in any cuts you've recently done as it hurts A LOT lol

Looks good Wazzer!!! Not too keen on the Audi covers but will be interesting to see how much oil collects in your tank!

there was a mini GB on uk-mkivs for them, 3 of us ordered them so we didn't get caught by customs

worked out at about £62 for the can, about £10 for pipe and a couple of quid for the fittings

Not too bad to fit, you need to know what you're getting rid of first though

Have a read through this topic

initial results are good, throttle feels more responsive but I think that's down to the throttle body clean but if there isn't any oil vapour going back in it can't be bad and must be helping somewhere

The revs sit at over 1k on tickover as I pull up to junctions etc then slowly drop but I guess the ECU will learn to cope without the PCV

I'll have a look at what's in the can at the weekend just to get an idea of what I'm looking at emptying on a regular basis
