hi all, well im changing my gearbox out of my mk1 golf, currently i have a 1.8 16vlave engine but the original mk1 gti 8v gearbox, i have sourced a full mk2 valver so the gearbox is coming out of that into mine,
never took a gearbox out before, ive been told it goes straight on being the same engne but the gear selector is different, clutch is brand new on the mk2 so thats going on mine, drive shafts just change over with the flanges changed?
anythng else i need to no before i commece next week?!
clutch aligning tool? halfords one do the job?
cheers all

clutch friction disc will need changing, the bits tyhat are different on the valver box can be unbolted and the mk1 items bolted on. the biggest issue is the cv cups are too big for your driveshafts, so they need swapping. the old ones may fit if it has the later type, iof you look at the old box check if it has the green flange seal holders on it
