I have tried a search on hear but nothing seems to be what i am after, sorry if it is a re post!
Basically its mainly when i am pulling up to my house or traffic lights etc. When i apply the brakes gently, 9 times out of ten it will brake perfect but every now and then i brake as normal but the abs kicks in violently and literately stops on the spot.
Usually i wouldnt mind but im worried if someone hits me up the rear end due to this
Does this sound familiar to anybody??
There is no slippery surfaces on the road and its normal speed i dont slam the brakes on, just gently apply them
Please help asap
Cheers

my golf did this then went away. . but then came back. i crashed her before i had a chance to sort it but was told it could be the brake calipers sticking? :undecided:

Aha now that could make sense
Wen i am driving i do hear a slight binding kinda sound from the front
Any idea of repair? Im a novice

Dont mess with the brakes unless you are 100% competent i.e are or have been taught by qualified mechanic otherwise pay a mechanic it could well save your life. The abs should not activate in hot dry conditions.

My guess however would be warped discs if they are binding when off and snatching when on.
