Title: Finally got a GTi.......
Post by: sambo on 03 July 2009, 22:47
Well even though I bought it a few weeks ago, i knew it didn't feel right. After reading the forums I had my suspiction's on the diverter valve. Anyway changed it for the revision type D piston type tonight and all of a sudden it feel's like a GTi again
The old DV diaphagm was knackered completely with 2 large hole's in!   This type D is off the TSi engine and is supposed to hold boost better than the forge item according to some, certainly doesn't feel like it tails off anywhere near the redline!

Was very flat in comparison now it feel's similar to my old mk4 although not as aggressive, but I can fix that with a remap!

This also sorted my lumpy idle as per the other topic I posted about

Cheers, Sam

Nice one Sambo.

If you don't mind me asking, how much is the part and how hard is it to fit / how long does it take?

My '06 GTI feels a tad flat at times, and i suspect the DV. If it's cheap to do I may do it.

If you could post up the part number that would be good.

Hi mate,

Not sure how much it would be as I got it trade through a friend who works for VW. I paid £42 inc vat so about £50 i would say. He also fitted it for me although just looked like jacking up the front and putting on axle stands. The DV is located on the turbo itself so you need to get underneath and whip it off (3x bolts)

Took about an hour including the scan at the end.

Part number is 06H 145 710 D don't mention it is for a golf gti mk5 or they will tell you it's the wrong part, it's actually for the TSi engine. Works a treat though

Cheers, Sam

Nice one. I have a mate who's a VW tech so I should be able to get it cheap. Probably worth doing for that price I reckon.

Will there be fault codes that need clearing after replacing the part? Does the car recognise the part as being incorrect?

He's servicing the car soon, so will get it all done together.

Cheers Hurdy!

If the car is running poor because of it because of it you will get 'low boost pressure' and 'idle too lean' or similar. Doubt car will know the DV will be differant, it is literally just a soloniod valve by the looks of it, all it does is de-energize when it want's to dump excess pressure i think (someone correct me if i'm wrong)

HTH   Sam
