Title: All mk3 owners (suspension)
Post by: GolfGL on 23 August 2004, 23:16
Hi everyone id really like to know what suspension kit everyones got on there mk3, with what size tyres, whats ur ride comfort like, how much have u lowered it by, how much it cost etc. As i have not got a clue what kit to go for as everyones got different opinions. Id be looking for something with a 25-40mm drop with nice ride comfort (as every road round me has humps) for between ?250-400. everyone reply please

my car at first had 40mm lowered springs and standard shocks ...not too bad .good ride

ive now got supersport coilovers , but it depends how bothered you can be playing with your suspension every week to get it right cos mine is adjustable from normal to 120mm lower

i have audi tt wheels ...7.5 inch wide ..lowered 60mm now , but i need my arches rolling as it just rubs a bit

if you are lowering and carrying people go for a tyre that has sidewalls that slope inwards..eg falkens etc
and use 7inch wide wheels cos they wont catch , and you can go upto 17inch no worries

if you want comfort , get a good kit as the mk3 golf becomes quite bouncy when you lower it ...?!

my car is a gti 1996 mk3 8valve

hope this helps a bit
