Hi all,
Im new here, i should be looking at a mk4 golf 1.8t this weekend if the current owner sorts out the problem with the abs light.
its done 108000 miles, fsh, loads mots etcc.......
is there anything i should be checking when going to see it?
iv heard alot about the problems with the oil pumps causing the engine to fail, how can i check for this? how common is this fault? if the car has no signs of the fault should i expect it to happen in the future?
also how expensive is the turbo to replace on these? new and refurbished (easy to source?) are there any ways to check to see if this is on its way out?
and the clutch i have heard this can be quite pricey to replace as well?
according to the guy he says the cambelt has been changed twice in its life.
do these cars surfer from rust or rot? (had a escort in the past and it rotted away :-( lol )
sorry about all the questions just get really nervous about buying used cars

welcome mate have a butthers in the info and maintenance section all you will ever need to know is in there!! if the guy shas said hes changed the cambelt etc make sure hes got receipts for it! apart from that they are solid cars fun once you have had a play around

will do mate cheers.
yeah he said, the info of the cambelt change is in the service history?

there good cars if they have been serviced and cared for properly they can go on for miles....

ABS light could be a wheel sensor. About £45 i think, thats just for the sensor.
