Gutted for you mate, nasty prang there, hope it doesn't cost to much to repair.. :embarassed:
Any CCTV?
Sam
-
take it they didnt leave a note then? Not a good day for the forum :(
Sorry to hear of your bad luck. Fully comp?
-
Not sure about CCTV will be visiting the security office first thing tomorrow; got fully comp but might try not to claim? Any one have any idea of repairing/replacing?
Chris

I would say £300-£500 as the whole quarter will need paint and pulling out/filling
-
That look nasty. I don't know how people can just walk away after doing something like this. The morals in this country are shot to bits.
I only had my car two days when I got a ding in the door, nothing more sickening.
Hope you get something of the CCTV

Driving standards are terrible in this hot weather.
-
I would be absolutely fuming if I saw that on my car.
Hope its not too expensive to sort out, and hope the person that hit you gets 4 flat tyres on the way home, skids, and then hits a tree.
-
Oh no !!
People dont seem to be having much luck on the forum at the moment :(
Get a quote on how it would cost to repair and take it from there. Whats your insurance excess ?
-
i would honestly cry....
-
take it they didnt leave a note then?
Sorry to hear about that, OP! The fcukers!
My friend once told me someone hit his car quite badly. The driver got out in view of the witnesses and started writing a note to leave her details for a claim, so people just left the scene.
When he got back, saw the damage then spotted the note under his wiper.. It said; "I'm sorry - I can't afford to pay for another prang, or my premium to go up again".
Morals = non-existent.

Years ago i had a 205 gti se,full kit leather the works,it was a lovely car any way i`d only cleaned it that morning i popped to the local supermarket to buy some stuff, after i`d finished i was sat in the car when this old t xx t and his gobby daughter pulled up,he got out and did`nt bother to hold his door it blew in the wind and put a very big dent in the door of my car,i got out and asked for his details,he said"i did`nt do that" and walked off into the supermarket,i just stopped my self from killing him, anyway i rang the police, they came pretty quick to be honest, when he returned with his gobby daughter and his shopping she started swearing at me.The police man told him to give me his details and then went over his car, turns out he was a pub landlord, his car had no tax and 3 of the tyres were down to the metal,he impounded his car  Sorry to hear about your damage.

Would be very luck if that costs anything less than £1500 from VW!! trust me im a bump expert
Would defo look out for cctv footage as well, if not at the scene then near by may show another car with damage on it also. Thats how I caught my guy

Hi all,
Thanks for all the comments, i have been to see site security and there is no coverage in the area i was parked, typical however i now know and will be parking in full view! I have had a price £350 and will take three days. What do you think of the price? this place has been reconmended.

Hope you get it sorted.

The scumbags
How old is your car - if still under warranty I'd have the work done at a VW approved bodyshop and personally I would consider using one even if out of warranty. The damage looks like most of it will pull out and some filling may be necessary. Hopefully no straight edges have been damaged (specifically the B pillar door shut lines) as these would be very difficult to repair.
Hope you get it sorted OK.

if they do a good job that's an excellent price....
-
I suspect they won't do a good job at that price, sounds way too cheap to me!
Get some more quotes, and I'd also get a quote from a classic car restorer as they do some of the best paintwork you'll see.
Sorry to hear it, I'd also cry if that happened to mine!
-
Has it affected the drivers door at all?? Im pretty sure that wont pull. Sounds very cheap... wont know til you have seen some of their other work though.
-
try an sort a deal with this guy, tell him you're happy to let him do the work for that price but on the grounds that if it isn't a perfect outcome as you are expecting, then he wont get paid.
if he isnt happy to do that then he obviously isnt very confiden't his work will be good.
if he agree's, you have piece of mind that you won't be out of pocket should his work turn out to be sh!t

wouldnt be covered under warrenty anyway would it??? i had enough chew getting my aircon sorted under warrenty!!
plenty of good bodyshops out there tho mate, no need to pay over the odds for vw-bodyshop. as someone else mentioned make sure they gaurantee the work so you dont pay up if not happy!

Exact same thing happened to me with my WRX a few years ago. Really annoying. Only upside for me is that because it was a parking incident, it was resolved without affecting my NCD.
-
The car is on a 57 plate, my local VW doesnt have a body shop. Thanks for all the comments I got another price today said about 1K and might need to put a piece in :undecided:. I have had the B pillar checked by boch and they have both said its ok; will get a few more prices.
zerolight - i hadnt considered my insurance just assumed it would put up my premium.

i'd rather stay young and bump-free

I'd claim on the insurance and get a quality repair job. You might pay an £100 extra on your premium next year but its not the end of the world. My girlfriend wrote off my second car last year and lost me all my no claims and left me with a claim on my policy. Just renewed with 1 yrs ncb, a claim, 27 years of age with 18" monza's, colour coded, ed30 rear bumper and black vw badge for £660 all in. Mate has had 2 claims for bumps and his policy still went down both times. Insurance is there for a reason and it doesn't mean your premium will rocket.

Funny you say that, someone did the exact same in my Scooby  Bananna'd the car  whiplash etc, luckily my daughter wasn't in the back of the car
I thought they'd write it off, but no, amazing what pro shops can do
No doubt, yours will be sorted out - no need to go to VW bodyshop warranty-wise, but maybe for the "knowledge"
HTH

sorry to hear someone knocked into you. looks awful, hope you get it sorted soon.
-
Remember though even contacting your insurer about a claim may actually push up next years costs!
Doesnt matter it was vandalism or not your fault, chances are that you will have your excess to pay (if you go through them) AND an increment next year even IF they are made aware of it.
I would get a good recommended body shop that someone on here or other forums has used and go there and pay cash. There are a few good guys around that are artists, not just some work experience wassac making your paint finish look like the pock marks on his face.
-
I got a good discount when when paying cash at the body place I took my MK4 to a few years back if you know what I mean ;)
