Title: Get R-Tech'd tomorrow
Post by: Hulmie on 30 June 2009, 16:14
Well the day has nearly come and time for me to part with alot of cash and have some work done on me car.

After reading all the good reviews from fellow members i cant wait, should be a fun drive home on the M1 tomorrow after having the work done.

Will report back tomorrow with pictures of the work and feedback.

if i were you id spend the money on getting the cambelt done before a remap mate. No point in having it remapped and then a day later the belt snaps

indeed, but then its no point me starting to do the belt when the remap is booked in so soon and perhaps finding something goes wrong while doing the belt and cant get hold of any parts.. so i`ll do the belt once the remap is done..
maybe the same day..lol

Bit risky IMHO but it's up to you. I'd have the belt done first. It's pointless spending the money on a remap and then having your engine scrapped by the cam belt snapping!

do you really think that a remap is going to make the belt more likely to snap?.
i will be picking up the timing belt kit this week, i may even go for it before the remap, but i dont want the car to be a non runnner before it gets done, its already booked in. it will get done, dont worry about that.

well day started off real well and kept getting better. Arrive at R-tech around 11.45 this morning and greeted by Ben (good to meet ya), anyway started cracking on removing old exhaust and fitting new Milltek Cat back & R-tech 3" downpipe and De-Cat, whilst this was being done Nick came back and converted the rear end to a NickStyle Anni bumper ( Good work), once this was done new forge 007p was fitted and then on with the first map. Took it for a test drive and was instant improvement, came back tried out another map and woooohhooooo car pulls real well. Car then went on the rollers and managed 197bhp  and still have Pipercross Air Filter, Forge TIP and new spark plugs to fit. So all in all Top job Nick & Ben, highly recommended.

Downside to the day, left R-tech around 5.15pm got part way up the m1 to find it was closed between junction 25 & 26 cos of an overturned lorry, so was stuck in traffic for about 2 hours in 28 degree heat and to make things worse the motorway wombles didnt have a clue how to set up a proper diversion, but luckily with me being male i had good sense of direction and finally got back onto the M1 but then had 15 miles of driving at 50mph due to average speed camera's

so eventually got home at 9.30pm, but it was worth it.

CHEERS NICK & BEN
