Title: 40K Service Options
Post by: jonboy90 on 29 June 2009, 22:18
Hi, Can anyone give me any advice on a good sprcialist to get my Mk5 gti serviced. I live in Burnley just off the M65. The 40K service is due. Can anyone tell me what it should intale? Would Kwik-Fit be a viable option?
Cheers

No - you must be having a laugh

Service details are in the handbook - not being offensive but read it. Surely you did not buy a GTI without it :undecided:

You should also consider replacing the water pump at the same time as replacing the cam belt as this is preventative maintenance and could save you a few quid in the future

Thanks Steve. Do u mean the VW dealer near Gana or is there another one i haven't seen hiding somewhere?
My previous car was a Lexus so im pretty used to forking out for main dealer. I just hope they dont scratch the bonnet again like they did when it went in for its MOT. They sorted it all out but its still not what you expect. And im definately not taking it to Blackburn VW where i bought it from. Nothing but arseholes

Sorry about asking a silly question about wot's involved in a 40K service. i didnt think the hand book would cover it in detail as my previous cars handbooks never did. Opps my bad :embarassed:

I seem to remember that the guys at Aire Valley Workshop are indy VW/Audi specialists - Unit D, Keighley Road, Skipton, BD23 2QR

Not too far from you...

Hi John , sorry for late reply lad!!

Yes the one on gana top just at the mini round about, its a small dealership but they treated me okay a couple of yrs ago on another GTI that I had at the time. Its worth getting a qoute from them for the cambelt as well also water pump? Your still under warrenty any way by the sound of it? I live in London now, so thats the only one I know in that area? Come on the Clarets  !! Enjoy Steve30

yeah i gave vw at burnley a ring £230 for a intermediate long life service. i'll have to ring back about the cam belt and water pump. the warrenty ran out in march but i got some work done at the time. So u managed to escape the metropolis of Burnley then Steve lol
