Title: Rear wiper
Post by: ianw3321 on 28 June 2009, 12:36
Hi, just recently got a mk3 gti and am trying to suss out the wipers, perhaps someone can help. The main wipers are no problem up / down and towards me for wash. There is a switch on the front of the stalk marked 0-1-2-0 which doesnt seem to do much and a button on the top of the stalk that ocassionally works the front wipers. my problem is the rear wiper, if you push the stalk towards the dash it comes on in intermittant mode but stays on untill I switch the engine off. Can anyone tell me how to switch the rear wiper off or do I need a new switch? Ian.

Pushing it back turns the rear wiper on.

Pushing it again turns it off.

And the 0 1 2 0 works the MFA on the dash, which shows time, air and oil temp, mpg etc.

hey that ones gets most people the first time they drive the mk3 and use the rear wiper!

it gets better though...

the intermittent front windscreen wipe you can adjust

pull the stalk down to the intermittent wipe, let it wipe and then pull it back up

when the desired intermission between wipes has been reached pull the stalk back down to the intermittent wipe position

i think you can set the time anywhere between 2 and 8 seconds but play around with it

as soon as the ignition is switched off the set intermission time reverts to default
