Does anybody know how much lower is the original MK4 GTI suspension than the suspension of other MK4s?
-
I believe it's 15mm, would get others to confirm tho lol
-
Near as makes no difference sod all
-
Std/GTI/Anni all too fecking high
-
i agree dont really matter they all need slamming :)

Is it true that the GTIs with 15 inch wheels dont have the 15mm lowered suspension? If so what parts would I need to lower it to the proper GTI height? Not interested in lowering it much further than that.

just get some -30mm Eibach springs - will be cheaper than replacing the whole lot or buy those JOM shocks and springs which DPM have on offer - couple of people have fitted them and initial feedback seems pretty good  though the same was said about the Hottuning coilovers.......

15mm wouldn't be noticeable.
I've lowered mine 40mm on the JOM shocks and springs kit from dpmperformance and it's a really good kit.
The front only looks a bit lower but the back seems to have dropped more.
I wouldn't bother with the time/money put into only getting it to gti height, if you ever do put say, 18" alloys on it'll look like mine did (my dads land rover!)
But, it's up to you! If you don't want it dropped too much, at least go for the Eibach 30mm set.
Good luck :)

Thanks, i'll look into the Einbach

Cracking set of springs which are designed to be used with OEM shocks. Good value for £100-£110. ;)
p.s. GTI is -15 mm & Anni's are another 10-15 mm lower than that. ;)

Eibachs c/w OE shocks on 16" Montreal II's:-

What's the ride quality and road noise like with those? And does it make the car more interesting to drive in the corners?

I've changed to 35mm springs on standard shocks as the hottuning coilovers weren't to my taste at all. Only on there a month and i was glad to take them off.

Ride quality: Virtually OEM. Say 95%.
Road Noise: No adverse effects.
Handling: 10 x better than stock. Eliminates the pitching & diving under hard cornering that you get with OE springs.

Is a spring change easy?
Also I'm wondering if my car which came with 15 inch wheels has the same shocks as the ones with 16 inch wheels? Wonder if the springs would still work ok with them?
-
Apparently the Eibachs will wear out the standard shocks faster if you use them with the standard shocks.
