hey had a few probs with car l8ly so i had it all code read etc came bk with like 5 faults so i changed the maf and now ive changed the lambda sensor runs alot better having changed the lambda and mpg is right back up 2 averageing above 35mpg which im happy with rather than 12mpg.
still the revs are slightly high like 1500rpm on idle and wen i change gear they seem to blip up when clutch is pressed so i can never get a smooth gear change without a slight jolt???
so ive put it back on the code reader it came up with 5 still so i erased them all unpluged went for a drive and tryed again. now there is NO codes which is a good thing but still driving pretty lumpy. could it still possibley the maf? i had to buy cheap as i have just been made redundant :( i no u lot dont advise this but could this be the problem? also anything else i could check or do to get it running better? spark plugs, filter, throttle body clean etc etc??
thanx

From what you have said i would recommend an oem maf unit imo the original part for the job maybe dearer but as they say buy cheap buy twice i should know  well when you can afford it anyway also if you know someone local with vag-com the idle speed can be altered in adaption mode or one of them anyway but depending on sparkplug conditions etc if you dont know the history etc i would recommend a set of decent plugs as matter of course to and also clean up the throttlebody housing etc hth

TB clean?

oh right yea cheers. i put it on the machine again its now reading 2 faults 1 saying throttle position sensor not detected and other saying fuel to rich or lean cant remember??
whats a throttle sensor? and could this be my problem?
cheers
-
I believe its part of the actual throttle housing. Have you tried cleaning the throttle housing. There is a how to in the maint section. I'd try that first only cost would be some carb cleaner and some cotton wool buds.

went for a drive i thought it felt better then came bk whacked it on diagnostic and cums up with
throttle sensor position closed
random misfire
misfire in cylinder #3
so i take it me cars fooked :( all i need when after being made redundant and theres no jobs out there not happy at mo.
-
wow someones overdramatic a misfire can be from a number of things!
-
its just because its 1thing after another atm and its stressing me out because ive had the car around 4months when i got it, it wasnt running amazing but i thought this was due 2 the maf which it was then the lambda sensor and a few other faults etc
anyways can any1 help me out on here with the what it could be? thanx
-
I think the sensor is approx £30 and VW will know it as a CAM Position sensor
Topher or ivor will know for sure :nerd:
-
u think this is the reason i have a misfire in cylinder 3 also or just the throttle sensor?? cheers
-
u think this is the reason i have a misfire in cylinder 3 also or just the throttle sensor?? cheers
my guess would be the throttle position sensor IS causing the misfire
either way you need to replace the sensor
-
cant understand it looks brand new! theres noway i could of put the throttle body or pipes back together wrong is there thats causing the misfire??
i had the throttle position sensor closed b4 i did it , but with these 2 new 1's comeing up after is it something ive done?
would throttle position being closed affect my car alot?
thanx for help really appreciate it.
-
plz? might go vw and get one how much u reckon?
-
okay so ive been vw 2day and the part isnt called the throttle sensor as said and they cant find a part called CAM position sensor. so im a bit confused on which part i need and so was the bloke, he came back to me with another sensor which cant remember name which was gona cost £90 but i didnt know if it was the correct one.
can some1 help me out and tell me which sensor i need please???
again prob is ''throttle position sensor - closed'' thats what the code reads.
thanx

any1 please would like 2 fix this 2day. thanx
