my mk3 golf has stopped working, i throught it had run out of petrol but after buying some and starting the car it was huddering all over the place like a kangeroo, it drove for about a mile then just cut out on me, the ignition and oil light came on and then would not restart, it turns over fine but not sparking. checked all the leads, changed Ht leads still nothing please any adivce?? or should i give upand buy a mk4 :embarassed

So its not sparking? Which stopped after you ran out of petrol? Strange.
How do you know its not sparking? Have you taken a plug out?

Sounds like the coil to me Mate.

sounds like coil 2 me 2!
i would check 1st by pulling a plug 2 see if there isa spark!

could it be the crank sensor not sending a signal to the ecu?

can you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the ignition?

thanks guys just found out it was the cambelt, it didnt snap, just shredded all the teeth of the belt. it has bent four inlet valves, just stripped it down, does anybody know the tork settings for the head gastket bolts? looks like i will have a busy week. if anyone knows anywhere for cheap parts, i would be gratful. :sick:
