Title: help with mk3 16v brakes please.
Post by: tweed on 26 June 2009, 15:37
I will cut the story short. Got mk3 gti 16v that had been sitting over a year. The brakes are crap, we bleed them and still crap! Fitted a new master cylinder today, bleed them got all the air out and still crap. What els could it be? Do you have to do something when bleeding them? Thanks for anyhelp

Yes you'll need it professionally bled by pressure as the 16V has ABS and with you bleeding it 'by hand' it will only bleed from the ABS pump back really which leaves a major important part out from the master cylinder to the abs pump.

Get it done, any garage won't charge more than £30 but do make sure that they have the facility to use their air comp to do it with!!!
